Find out How to Sell Your Home Faster for More

It’s getting to that time of year again when we can see "light at the end of the tunnel" of winter coming to end, and many of us are now thinking about the possibility of moving home – not discounting myself!

First impressions really do count and this is no different whether you are meeting someone new or presenting your house as a potential new home, presentation for those important estate agent photos and viewings is key. Have a look at the below steps to help get your home ship shape ready to help ensure a quick sale and to achieve the best possible price:

  1. Make sure the front garden is neat and tidy; remove rubbish, weeds, mow the lawn and clip any hedges for a great first impression

  2. Apply a fresh coat of brown stain on your fences if they are looking tired and weathered

  3. Clean your windows, frames and front door

  4. Paint any external frames and door if discoloured or peeling paint

  5. Ensure all internal paintwork is clean and free from cracks and chips

  6. If you are re-painting your walls or skirting boards keep the colours light and neutral to give a feeling of light, space and airiness

  7. Make the insides neat and tidy - decluttering as much as possible – surfaces that are clean and clear give a good feeling of space, with a place for everything and everything in its place

  8. Make sure each of the rooms in your house has a purpose (i.e. no junk rooms!)

  9. Remove any over-sized pieces of furniture that prevent a potential buyer to see the room for its full potential and store any other large items you have laying around in a loft / garage or with a friend or relative if you can

  10. If you need help call the DeClutter Angel in to get your home professionally organised, decluttered and / or home staged ready for you to launch for sale what probably is your most valuable asset

  11. Keep as many lights on as you can for the estate agents’ photos and for each viewing

  12. Open the curtains and blinds as wide as possible to let the maximum amount of natural light in

  13. Scrub kitchens and bathrooms with mild bleach, deodorise aeas where pets live, and use a good furniture polish on all wood surfaces to add shine and a sweet scent

  14. Place a vase of fresh flowers in the lounge and master bedroom, and lastly brew some fresh coffee in the kitchen right before each viewing to give a welcoming aroma!

In summary you want your house to be fresh, clean and to create a lifestyle people will want to own.
